About Us
Steve and Ralph have been in construction for over 40 years each. Both have a love of the outdoors and the nature that comprise our world. And they love trees! During hunting season, they sit up in trees for days on end, mostly napping!
People are constantly cutting down and wasting good trees all the time. We have been purchasing and gathering trees, many which would have otherwise been discarded or placed in a burn pile or dump. And now, we are taking these would-be “orphans”, and finding a second life for them with good, creative people, such as those visiting our website.
Our current inventory of hand-picked and inspected logs in various sizes: ash, black locust, honey locust, black walnut, elm, poplar, pinn oak, white oak, red oak, maple, spalted maple, mulberry, box elder, several different cedars & pines. And some special cherry burls!
You can choose wood from our precut inventory of wood/slabs; OR, you can choose and purchase your own log, which we will cut and dry to your specification.
Milling
We mill trees into usable shapes and sizes. Our main tool is the Wood-Mizer LT-40 fully hydraulic portable sawmill. We are capable of cutting logs up to 21 feet long, and 36” thick. We can cross cut up to 34” as well.
Kiln
We have an indoor wood kiln to dry all various species to specified moist contents for finish woodworking. Based on availability, you can even dry or cure your own wood in our kiln.
Disc Cutting
We have engineered and built a custom jig compatible with our mill which allows us to cut discs, or cookies out of the smaller limbs of the tree so as not to be wasted.
Firewood
All of the unmanageable scraps and cutoffs sections of wood are sized and split, and kiln dried and either air-dried or seasoned for firewood.
Custom Pieces
On request, we can be commissioned to build certain finish pieces to our clients design and specification.
Come to You
Although we do not like taking our baby [aka our Wood-Mizer portable sawmill] outside of our shop, we can come to you, mill your tree for you, and leave you the wood for your own personal use.
